Rock County Ambulance is asking for community donations to build a new two stall facility that will be located across the street from the hospital ER. This location would allow for a quicker response to emergencies, a safer/appropriate size to prevent damage to the ambulances, and move it out of a residential area to improve community safety. Over the past 2 years, investments of over $200,000 have been made to upgrade ambulances and equipment. The upgraded ambulances are larger in size and our current garage is no longer safe. The ambulance staff must back the ambulances straight into the garage, often folding in the mirrors, and be weighed down appropriately so it will t through the doors and miss the heater hanging from the ceiling. However, if any of these steps aren’t taken, there is great potential for significant damage to the ambulance, making it unable to respond to an emergency.
The cost of construction of this facility is $348,000, of which $205,000 has already been raised. The cost of the project is more than standard construction due to the higher requirements for an emergency response facility construction. We are required to build to a higher standard so that the ambulance remains operational in an emergency.
We thank you in advance for your support! Your donation is greatly appreciated and is 100% tax deductible. We hope to have our fundraising complete by May 1 to allow for construction yet this summer. Your donation will help sustain a strong emergency response for our community.
